Nikki Segers ('s-Hertogenbosch 1987) graduated from the Media Art & Performance course in 2008. Since then she has worked in her own studio as an independent (portrait) photographer. She loves to portray people, both in the studio and outside in nature.
“During the 2021 lockdown, I had to stop portraying people. At that time I was temporarily staying in the middle of a nature reserve. The social isolation made me start working on photography in a different way. The still lifes depict the silence around me and the peace I felt within myself. By using the skull of a deer I was able to make portraits. In retrospect, it is almost poetic how the deer is a reflection of myself. Yearning in silence.”
