Rubbish Collector (Lujan)
LUJAN, ARGENTINA - MARCH 18: A man works carrying trash in Lujan's open air dump on March 18, 2022 in Lujan, Argentina. Despite the official announcements of a plan to reconvert the biggest garbage dump of Argentina into a recycling and waste treatment center, the surrounding areas of Lujan, in the outskirts of the city of Buenos Aires, continue to be hit pollution. While some residents are sceptical on the viability of the project, funded by the Inter-American Development Bank, others worry about a potential loss of their source of income. An estimate of 150 families struggle to make a living collecting rubbish from this open-air dump of over 12 hectares where 120 tons of waste are thrown, feeding mountains of rubbish up to 30 meters.
